IMPRESSED CURRENT CATHODIC PROTECTION (ICCP) SYSTEM

The protection principle is the same as Sacrificial Anode Cathodic Protection (SACP) System: by providing or supplying electron (direct current) to the structure’s surface. The major different is the electron (direct current) in ICCP is generated by an external electrical source such as Transformer Rectifier. This Transformer Rectifier converting Alternating Current (AC) of electric power source into low-voltage Direct Current (DC). There are several ICCP anode materials being used nowadays such as Ferro Silicon Chromium, Mixed Metal Oxide coated Titanium, Platinized Titanium, Graphite, etc.

ICCP System is chosen as it can supply large DC current into surface structure and provide wider driving voltage compare to SACP System. The ICCP System needs the availability of continuous AC electrical power source and routine maintenance.

The ICCP System can be implemented in underground steel pipeline, steel piling jetty, ship hull, subsea pipeline, offshore structures, etc.
